Image
After overwhelmingly dominating men’s tennis for two decades, many tennis fans were sad to see Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal call it quits. Indeed, the sheer irrefutable hegemony of the Big Three, who are to wit: Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic over men’s tennis ushered in such an unprecedented epoch of the sport that it remains unmatched in men’s singles tennis’ history. With Nadal and Federer now retired and with Djokovic presently being in the twilight of his glittering career, many hard core tennis aficionados had been worried about which players could fill the void left behind by the aforesaid undisputed living legends of the sport. In the men’s event, all eyes will be on the talented and record-breaking Serbian Novak Djokovic, who has unequivocally ruled the roost in the grand slams thus far this year. Indeed, the Serb who will be seeking a record-extending 24 th grand slam trophy at Wimbledon, has been in a rich vein of form this year, which has seen him already brilliantly secure both the Australian Open and the French Open. Interestingly, despite being the hot favorite for the title, Djokovic will nevertheless not be entering the fray as the men’s world number one in the world tennis rankings. That honor belongs to the Spanish teenage sensation Carlos Alcarez, who is the leader of the next generation of upcoming, s...
