Last Sunday, on the hallowed grassy courts of Wimbledon, Carlos Alcaraz outclassed Serbian great Novak Djokovic to secure his first Wimbledon title following a pulsating five sets thriller.

Indeed, despite comprehensively losing the first set 1-6, Alcaraz rapidly recovered to play at such a stratospheric level that was at times utterly breathtaking to drink in.

Being the evergreen 36-year-old veteran that he is, there is little doubt that Djokovic will soon bounce back in his attempts to claim a record-equaling eighth Wimbledon crown.

However, for now, Carlos Alcaraz is deservedly the toast of the realm of tennis and the world is doubtlessly at the feet of the 20-year-old Spanish tennis sensation.

In the big picture, though, it is still up in the air whether we are witnessing a changing of the guard in tennis and I suppose that only the passage of time will reveal an accurate state of affairs currently in tennis.
